The following is another attempt to use the goggle of Faith to weigh various inspired thoughts, on another blessed day.
1. There is no proof under heaven that a believer has gained entrance into the New Testament, if the Lord hasn’t been able to teach or train him to be content with being godly; with being governed by the law or and conversations in Christ (Isa. 4:1, Tit. 2:11-13, 2Pet. 1:5-7). One fruit of this at appointed seasons is that it would empower us to naturally delight in seeking things that are primarily in the interest of others, and thereby lay down our lives for others and end up interpreting God’s love to men (Jn. 15:13). By so doing, we would unlock an economy of grace, whereby things that men seek – would come seeking after us (1Cor. 10:24, Phil. 2:3/19-20, Matt. 6:33).
2. When we don’t truly discern the activities of God’s grace upon our lives in seasons where the Lord is separating us from our carnal walk (as He does with potential sons); or teaching us the contentment that accompanies being godly, then we are prone to abruptly interrupting or withdrawing from that season of life. We would end up frustrating God’s grace and workings over our lives and give our flesh a long-awaited sigh of relief from the pressure of faith walk (Gal. 2:21). Like David, we would have no control over the long-term consequences of that decision.
3. The Lord can’t change a person if He can’t change what He sees; if He – (like we see in Abraham) – can’t change the initial hope that was set by the world before him (Gen. 13:14-15, Lam. 3:26). Without a change of hope, men would continue to seek things that are inferior to what God ordained man to seek after and would end up worshipping such things – even ‘in the name of Lord’. To change a man’s hope, ministers of the word of righteousness have to carefully and consistently paint the hope of the gospel to them, until Christ becomes their new captivity; like the world once was (2Cor. 3:5-6, Eph. 4:8, Col. 1:27-28).
4. Any life or righteousness of this earth that men can successfully seek first, other than that of the kingdom of God and His righteousness; or any worldly pursuit that we can successfully yield the strength of our souls to (at the expense of the pursuit of God’s life), is a lie; even such that has successfully made liars out of many men over generations (Prov. 31:3a, 1Jn. 2:15). A liar is therefore anyone who would rather keep pursuing the world or keep their ignorance, in seasons when the Lord wants to collect or starve them of it; and yet, claim to know to the Lord or be in fellowship with Him (Jn. 3:19, 1Jn. 2:3-4).
5. A good clue that believers or companies of believers have journeyed from faith to Charity, or that the gospel of Christ has become their first inheritance? (1Pet. 1:9a/22, 1Tim. 1:5, Rom. 1:16) Is If Christ – through the lifestyle of His Faith – has comfortably indwelt them, and if through Him, they are hoping for God; for God’s glory – which is the final inheritance of the New Testament (Eph. 3:17, Col. 1:27, Rom. 5:1-5).
6. There are intense warfares against the flesh; against sin or this world; even against our carnal nature or frame, that the Lord may not approve of in seasons when we haven’t burnt down some bridges behind us, or haven’t been severed from some umbilical cords that the world feeds from ; so we don’t get technically knocked out in the early rounds of such battles or overwhelmed and draw back from the good fight of faith (1Cor. 10:13, Heb. 12:4). Such are seasons when we can’t really nurse the ambition of being a part of those who would bear the responsibility of overcoming the enemy (Isa. 14:12-16, 1Jn. 5:18).
7. The true need of a man; of an average hustler on the street or of a businessman that hustles for ‘more and more’ in hope of better ‘security and comfort’, isn’t the need for more money. The world says we need more money, but the gospel says we need to use our time differently, so we can fetch (more) grace; live supernaturally, engage the forces of heaven in all our affairs and thereby enjoy more of heaven on earth than many carnal believers who are in heaven (Rom. 1:16, 1 Cor. 4:20).
