A Closer Look at Overcoming Fears and Anxiety – Part 1

1. A believer who hasn’t embraced the paintings of the gospel of Christ and thereby journeyed into the corridor of godliness, hasn’t found the hope and contentment for the soul called Christ. He remains prone to anxieties and fears but can become a believing believer by doing otherwise (Rom. 1:16-17, 2Pet. 1:5-7, Rom.10:13-17).

2. Anxiety and cares have not only led to a delay in conception in women, but they have also limited many believers from conceiving the Word of Faith in their souls: the Word that births the fruits of righteousness at maturity: fruits that are pleasing to the Lord (Matt. 13:19-21, 2Pet. 1:5-8, Phil. 1:11).

3. One proof that we have successfully taken our eyes off of ourselves, things and men is that like Moses and Jesus, we would be content in seasons when we are unknown and unsung: content with faithfully serving that which is another man’s (Mk. 8:29-30, Jn. 7:4, Lk. 16:12/17:10).

4. All the devil needs to trouble our soul, waste our time and resources and also steal life from our soul are legitimate things and enticing promises that are inferior and contrary to God’s plan to give us Christ and Eternal Life. And so, nothing gets him confused like becoming solely content with these promises (Jn. 10:10, 1Cor. 6:12-13a, 2Pet. 1:3-4).

5. Fears and anxiety are born when we attempt to carnally respond to a righteous expectation or when we can’t trust in the ability of the Lord to bring to pass what He promised. And they would always cost us the peace of our heart (Phil. 4:6-7, James. 1:6-8).

6. As we see through the veil of peace that this world gives, journeying to inherit the peace of the Kingdom would become our new goal and meditation! Our value system would revolve around God’s thoughts, and we would be strengthened to despise this world and it’s god (Jn. 14:27, Ps. 17:15, 1Jn. 2:15).

7. The true painting of the gospel of Christ always inspires a hope that would see us journey into the corridor of godliness; into a season where living with contentment becomes natural, and living in anxieties and fears becomes unnatural (Rom. 1:16-17, 2Pet. 1:5-7, Isa. 32:16-18).

8. “They that are married, as though they are not.” “They that use this world as though they don’t.” So also, they that are naturally endowed, gifted or resourceful-should be as though they are not. The counsels of the epistles help us to faithfully use every privilege like natural men don’t – or like Christ did (1Cor. 6:12, 7:30-31, 10:23).

9. Man, like some angels, fell after successfully taking thought or adventuring a life outside what God defined to him as life. So, the counsel of Jesus not to take thought for our lives was not just His 33 years trade secret, but a lifetime commandment for everyone who would overcome both sin and iniquity (Gen. 2:17, Eze. 28:15, Heb. 1:9).

10. One prescription for starving our fears and anxieties is by always employing the enlightenment of Christ or of the Spirit of the Lord, in every decision-making process (Eph. 5:14, Isa. 17:3, Jn. 7:24).
